Can’t sleep? Yeah, me too.
Sometimes, it’s because I’m catastrophising about those great life events that “challenge” us, so that we can “grow” from them. You know, like working in a toxic environment, becoming a parent (Me? Responsible for another human?), or wondering how on Earth it is that everything keeps getting more expensive, yet salaries aren’t getting any higher.
Sometimes, it’s because my mind won’t stop wondering about the answer to the most mundane questions. Like, how did all-American singer Neil Diamond’s song Sweet Caroline become an English football and boxing anthem? (I asked my English husband, who sighed at me and said, “I don’t know, Lizza.” Apparently I ask a lot of questions – and multiply that by the 10 years we’ve been together.)
So, think of the 3am Huddle as our space to discuss the things that keep us up at night. If you subscribe, starting from Tuesday evening, September 17, you’ll receive a newsletter from me about the topic for the week.
Eventually, I’ll be offering extra content for paid subscribers, so keep a sleepy eye out.
A bit about me
I’m a Sydney-based journalist, editor and podcaster who writes stories to make us cry, laugh and have the ovaries (or balls) to take on the world. I was previously editor-in-chief of Women’s Health Australia (my dream job), and I’ve also worked on much-loved Aussie brands, including body+soul, Cleo, Dolly and Mamamia.
My career high? Trying to keep my shit together while interviewing Arnold Schwarzenegger… in person!
Another thing you need to know about me: A few years ago, after my uncle passed away, I realised I was too scared to live the life I truly wanted to live, so in an effort to learn to be brave, I decided to do one thing a day that scared me. It transformed my life and the challenge culminated in me having a cage fight. True story. I’m thinking of doing it again. (God no, not the cage fight – don’t be silly – but the Year of Fear challenge.)
What’s keeping you up at night?
